Beseku.com is the personal website and portfolio of Ben Sekulowicz-Barclay, a web-developer and student at the University of Surrey, England.
The work on this site demonstrates my experience as a programmer and developer for the World Wide Web. My academic projects in particular feature creative and experimental work, testing theories and concepts I have learnt from my studies.
My work, (and especially this site) reflect my interest in a semantic and structured Internet. It focuses on maximising the use of compliant mark-up, and the strengths of web standards.
If you are looking for the photo gallery, it is now available at gallery.beseku.com. If you are interested in any of the work featured here, my CV is available.
The Orchid Selector is a Final year Project being developed by a fellow student for the Botanical Gardens, Kew. The system is a knowledge-base query system, allowing users to identify orchids by describing some prominent features.
I was asked to develop an XHTML front end for the on-line application. The design needed to be flexible to allow for any amount of data, which would be generated by the AI based back-end, and resemble the exisitng brand developed by the gardens, using the same pallette where possible.
A simple page structure is arranged using CSS to ensure that the page will be presentable at any size or resolution.
